World Skills UK: Competition Week
Throughout the week commencing 26 February, students across North Nott College are competing in pressure tests to showcase their talent for World Skills UK (WSUK).
Students placing first, second, and third will receive awards, with results announced in the coming weeks. Winners from each subject area will then be entered into the WSUK national competitions taking place in November 2024.

Intermediate Beauty: Level 2

Wednesday, 1:00pm: Worksop Campus
Prepare to showcase your skills as a beauty therapist by mastering popular salon treatments such as waxing, manicure/pedicure, and makeup application. Focus on professionalism, safe practices, and effective client interaction.
Project Brief:
Competitors must demonstrate a commercially acceptable half leg wax and a mini manicure within strict time frames. The tasks include waxing a half leg on both legs and performing a mini manicure on both hands. Time: 30 minutes for each task.

Take your expertise to the next level by demonstrating proficiency in advanced body and facial treatments. Impress judges with your professionalism, client care, and creativity through three set tasks: back treatment, mini facial and mini manicure.
Project Brief:
Competitors must demonstrate competency in back treatment, mini facial, and mini manicure within a total competition time of two hours fifty-five minutes. Time breakdown: Back treatment (45 minutes), Mini facial (80 minutes), Mini manicure (20 minutes), Clear down (15 minutes).

Aspiring make up artists must demonstrate their prowess in commercial makeup application under challenging conditions. Prepare to create flawless fashion makeup and hairstyles within tight time constraints while adhering to industry standards and safety practices.
Project Brief:
Competitors must demonstrate a commercially acceptable fashion make up and a suitable hairstyle within a one-hour and thirty-minute timeframe. Time: 1 hour for makeup, 30 minutes for hairstyling.

Showcase your technical knowledge and creativity in hair colouring, styling, and cutting. Prepare to create a commercial hair look reflecting current fashion trends within a specified timeframe.

Competitors must produce a commercial look combining cutting and colouring skills within a strict timeframe, reflecting current fashion trends. Time: 3 hours.

Sharpen your skills in electrical and lighting circuit installation to industry standards. Demonstrate precision, functionality, and compliance with wiring regulations through tasks like measuring accuracy and circuit installation.
Project Brief:
Competitors are tasked with installing a range of electrical and lighting circuits and containment systems, ensuring measuring accuracy, horizontal and vertical alignment, electrical terminations, functionality, and compliance with BS 7671: IET Wiring Regulations.

Competitors are tasked with producing a six-brick pier at level 1 and at level 2 building a six-brick pier with attached wall and soldier detail, adhering to industry standards and quality criteria. Time: 3 hours.
