VRQ Qualifications

A Vocationally Recognised Qualification (VRQ) assures employers that you have the skills and knowledge required to perform a specific job. They are developed through a combination of coursework, workplace training, and assessments. This results in a clear, consistent, and measurable path toward workplace readiness.

These courses, which range in difficulty from entry level to level 8, are broken down into units based on the abilities and knowledge you will pick up by completing the assessments.

Higher National Qualifications

Higher Nationals range from level 4 (HNC) to level 5 (HND) and are ideal for those looking to earn a qualification that is recognised by employers across the country. An HNC is equivalent to the first year of a Bachelor’s (BA) degree, while an HND is equivalent to the second year.

These courses allow you to study for less money and be closer to home for your first two years of university. You can then progress onto a top-up year to earn your full BA degree if you wish or go straight into employment with your newfound skills and knowledge.

Foundation Degree (FdSc)

A Foundation Degree (Level 5) is a great way to kickstart your career. These courses are designed for people who want to study at a high level and are looking for a new challenge, but who don’t have the grades or experience to enter degree-level study straight away.

A foundation degree is a level of education below a bachelor’s degree but above an associate’s degree. It requires you to study a specific subject area in more depth than an associate’s degree would. The course provides you with an opportunity to build up your skills and knowledge in preparation for further study or work-related learning. Upon completion of this course, you can then progress onto study for a Bachelor’s Degree.
