North Notts College Students Walk the Walk at Runway Idol
Students from North Notts College’s Media Make-up and Hair and Beauty courses took part in the charity event, Runway Idol at the end of September.
Creating looks for the models, the students worked backstage with both the styling of hair and makeup as they put their skills learned at College to the test.
Hosted at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield, the annual event looked to raise money and awareness for the charities Sepsis Trust and Sheffield Mind, as an audience of around 300 enjoyed the 20 models competing for the judges’ marks.
Amongst the models who took centre stage, was Level 3 Media Make-up student, Lucas Rodgers who walked in the ‘This is me’ category, which celebrates the individuality behind people, no matter who they are.
Lucas, who has gained a massive following on social media platforms TikTok and Instagram for his mesmerizing make-up techniques, was invited as a special guest to walk the runway at Runway Idol.
Speaking about this honour, he said: “It was a real surprise when I found out I was going to be doing the event. It’s for such a good cause and I love the ‘This is me’ category.
“I think it’s really important that people can feel like they can be themselves and can wear what they want and what feels comfortable, so doing this event will be so much fun!”
Thanks to the work of North Notts College students backstage and on stage, along with the judges, models and hosts, Runway Idol raised £4500 for charity and provided a fun-filled night for all who attended.
