North Notts Students Complete Stage Project for Prospect Hill Infant and Nursery School

23 January 2017

Students from North Notts College have been busy building a brand new stage area at Prospect Hill Infant and Nursery School, which the children will use to put on exciting outdoor performances.

The area was previously an old sand pit in a part of the playground that was disused and was no longer benefiting the school. The stage was requested after the school heard of other projects the students have done in the past year including restoring a fitness trail and creating a mural.

The school paid for the materials and North Notts College supplied the tools, equipment and labour to create the 6m by 3m stage. The work done by the students such as mixing mortar and laying paving slabs counts towards their units for their qualification, the Skills For Working Life, Construction course.

The teachers and children were overjoyed at having a brand new area of the playground to use and the children sent a heart-warming letter to the College thanking everyone on behalf of the school and saying a “big thank you for all the hard work done at our school.”

The Head Teacher of Prospect Hill Infant and Nursery School, Louise Rose, commented “The children are already using the playground area that was transformed. The students worked incredibly hard on the job and were a credit to themselves and the College.”
