North Notts College commits to Woodhead’s B.I.G Partnership
North Notts College has signed up to local construction company Robert Woodhead Limited’s B.I.G (Building to Inspire a Generation) Partnership, which aims to support students to develop their skills and knowledge of the building and construction industry.
Students in the College Construction department will benefit from site visits and work experience opportunities designed to teach them new skills, as well as working with the Woodhead team to develop their employability, mock interview and CV writing skills.
North Notts College will also work with Woodhead to promote construction pathways in the local area at careers and guidance events, with the collaboration lasting for a minimum of two years.
Phil Sayles, Deputy Principal of the RNN Group, the parent organisation of North Notts College, called the partnership: “a great opportunity for our students to develop their technical skills in a real working environment and to work with Woodhead to tailor their CVs and interview techniques to the expectations of employers.
“The partnership will provide our students with valuable experience to take with them into their future careers.”
Teresa Westwood, People & Culture Director for Woodhead, said: “we’re committed to working with local colleges and schools to spread the word to students about the benefits of working in construction.
“Our industry is currently facing a skills gap, and it’s so important we encourage young people across our region to consider a career in construction, and the fantastic opportunities that offers. We’re looking forward to working with the students at North Notts College, to prepare them for the world of work.”
