North Notts College Supports Wilko Staff and Others with Free Workshops
Since September, the Department for Workforce Pensions (DWP) referred 32 individuals to our redundancy and jobseeker workshops. These free drop-in sessions are open to anyone dealing with redundancy, unemployment, or job uncertainty.
Wilko staff have been the main source of engagement following the company’s administration in August, leaving many locals facing challenges in their job search. Recognising this situation, North Notts College, a part of the RNN Group, launched free workshops to address their diverse needs. Participants can attend sessions individually or over an extended period of time, depending on their skills and knowledge.
During these sessions, our friendly Career Coaches will help:
- Identify transferable skills
- Create and optimise online job accounts
- Search for jobs online, including on social media
- Master both face-to-face and online interview techniques”
End-of-course evaluations have returned positive feedback, with participants expressing thanks for the support they received. Some notable comments praised assistance in CV building, feedback on tutor support, and the overall course quality. Many participants have also enrolled in our free IT literacy course, available to anyone who is technically challenged.
