Computing students take on work experience with New Roots

23 July 2018

A group of computing students from North Notts College have had the opportunity to work with an organisation called New Roots, a housing project that offers support and accommodation to homeless or vulnerably housed young people in Bassetlaw.

The task was to deliver an IT project as part of their work experience, working together as a team and learning valuable skills within a real working environment.

North Notts College student Callum Deakin said, “I’ve learnt a large amount of teamwork skills and how to work as a group, but also learnt how to work well independently. It also made me feel proud to have done this and contributed to New Roots and all the great things they are doing.”

Matt Pickering, Volunteer Coordinator for New Roots said, “Welcoming IT students from North Notts College for a week of work experience at New Roots Housing has been a fantastic experience for everyone involved.

“The students have been dedicated and hard working all week, and have brought with them their own insights as young people into how to make our social media profiles that little bit better! I’d like to give huge thanks from everyone at New Roots for their hard work.”
