Valentine’s Day Inspired Make-up Looks Wow Influential Make-up Artist
Students from North Notts College’s Media Make-up department have wowed an influential make-up artist with their skill and talent in a recent Valentine’s Day inspired make-up competition.
Former North Notts College student Rebecca Capel – now a successful make-up artist, Youtuber and Social Media Influencer with a number of brand collaborations on her CV – joined the judging panel for the competition which saw students from Levels 1 – 4 participate.
With a variety of levels taught at the Retford Post-16 Centre, each level worked to a slightly different brief but with an overall Valentine’s Day theme.
The judging panel, which saw Rebecca join experienced tutors from the Hair and Beauty department at the College were blown away by the standard of make-up on show.
Retford Post-16 Centre Campus Manager and Senior Curriculum Team Leader for Hair and Media Make-up Karen Connole co-ordinated the competition and chaired the judging panel.
Karen said: “I’m so happy with the quality of work that was exhibited in this competition. To think that all of these looks have been created at home is mind-blowing. The amount of effort that has gone into creating these looks is incredible.
“Competitions like this are so important for encouraging creativity. In normal times we enter WorldSkills UK, which is our students’ chance to showcase their work on a national level. The standard is so high, but as we judged this competition we commented on how the looks created are good enough for a place at WorldSkills.”
Former Retford Post-16 Centre student, Rebecca Capel, also judged entries from all levels.
Rebecca said: “I’ve got such happy memories of my time as a student at Retford, I was really happy to give my time to support the next generation of make-up artists.
“The work of all the students was amazing, creativity must come so naturally to them – I love it!”
As well as judging the competition Rebecca has agreed to offer each of the winners great exposure of their skill and talent by sharing the winning looks with her almost 60,000 followers on Instagram.
Rebecca continued: “Receiving exposure of your work is so important, and it makes a real difference to your career. I’m happy to share these amazing looks and encourage my followers to check out these incredible young artists.”
