Laing O’Rourke Partnership Opens Career Pathways in Engineering and Construction
Through an exciting new partnership with Laing O’Rourke, our T Level students are gaining direct access to careers in the thriving fields of engineering and construction.
With site visits, presentations, mock interviews, and work placements, they are acquiring hands-on experience and valuable industry insights to prepare them for future success.

Before Christmas, the partnership kicked off with an engaging presentation where Laing O’Rourke provided an overview of its global operations and the wealth of opportunities available within the sector.
Building on that foundation, Year 1 Engineering and Construction T Level students received a site tour that brought the industry to life, giving students a first-hand look at potential career pathways.
Guided by our Year 2 students Logan and Will, the visit showcased state-of-the-art facilities, introduced their team, and gave students an inside look at industry practices. For students like Logan and Will, the partnership is already yielding tangible results.
After completing work experience placements with Laing O’Rourke last year, both have secured degree level apprenticeships, highlighting the real career opportunities this collaboration offers.
On Thursday, 22nd January, students will face interviews with Laing O’Rourke, where successful candidates will secure placement. While not all will be offered employment, the interviews serve as invaluable practice, allowing students to refine their skills and gain confidence in the recruitment process.
Successful candidates will receive hands-on work placements, where students commit one day per week to Laing O’Rourke, gaining practical experience while continuing their studies.
