Coffee Mornings Raise Vital Funds for Macmillan Cancer Support

4 October 2024

A grand total of £183.80 has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support following our coffee mornings last week. One event took place in the bistro, while the other was hosted at Insync Hair, Beauty, and Make-up Salon. Both gatherings were highly successful, bringing together our community for a great cause.

Since 1990, Macmillan Coffee Mornings has transformed into a nationwide phenomenon, inspiring thousands of events annually. In 2022, these gatherings raised over £11 million, allowing the charity to continue providing crucial support. Among the services offered are financial assistance, emotional support, and professional guidance for those affected by cancer. Funds collected not only aid groundbreaking research but also enhance the quality of life for patients and their families during challenging times.

In their brand-new kitchen facilities, Early Years and Education students baked delicious treats ahead of the day, including rice crispy buns, crunchie fudge bites, and cake pops. This hands-on experience not only showcased their skills but also reinforced the importance of community involvement. Their efforts made the coffee morning a truly memorable event for everyone.

Health and Social Care students managed the stall in the bistro, expertly engaging with passersby and promoting the event. Their friendly approach and dedication encouraged many to sample the delicious offerings and contribute to our fundraising efforts. Some students even took their efforts beyond the stall by baking cakes at home. Through their interactions, they fostered a warm atmosphere that made the event inviting for all.

Meanwhile, Hair and Beauty students also ran a stall at Insync Salon, where they served customers, engaged with attendees, and ensured a welcoming atmosphere. Their enthusiasm and teamwork encouraged many to stop by and support our fundraising efforts. Cakes were kindly baked by a staff member’s family, adding a sense of community spirit.

Thank you for your support! Every contribution makes a difference in the fight against cancer. We look forward to next year’s event, where we aim to raise even more for Macmillan Cancer Support.
