Visitors explore apprenticeship opportunities at North Notts College
North Notts College has been celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2020 by helping local people look beyond typical progression routes in education and employment and explore the wide-range of opportunities that an apprenticeship can provide.
The event, organised by RNN Training, shone a spotlight on the different sectors we deliver apprenticeships in with a real focus on Engineering, Construction, Hair and Beauty and Business.
Visitors to the event had the opportunity to speak to tutors, have a tour of the college facilities, speak to our Skills Consultants about some of employers we work with and the apprenticeship positions that these businesses recruit for.
RNN Training Skills Consultant Emma Kennedy was on hand at the event to provide information about our apprenticeships and current vacancies to our visitors.
Emma explained: “An apprenticeship is more than just a qualification, you get real experience and on-the-job training.
“We’ve found the benefits of apprenticeships are twofold: students get to expand their knowledge base and skillset, gain confidence and a greater sense of independence, and businesses that employ our apprentices often report improved morale in the workplace as our students bring fresh approaches and new ideas.
“We cover a broad range of apprenticeships at North Notts College including business, education, construction, motor vehicle and much more. We also offer many progression routes to enhance current skillsets.”
RNN Training Director of Apprenticeships Lisa Wilson organised the event at North Notts College.
Lisa said: “It’s been fantastic for our team to meet so many people at this event, and throughout National Apprenticeship Week, that are excited to learn about apprenticeships.
“We’ve met people today who have looked beyond traditional routes of education and employment and see the value that an apprenticeship can have for them and the potential impact on their career prospects.
“I think it’s really important that the role of apprentices, and the impact they have on business, are celebrated, and that we continue to showcase the amazing opportunities that putting people in the right apprenticeship can provide.
“We need to help educate people and show that apprenticeships aren’t only a great way to start a career but that they are a cost-effective way to upskill existing staff and management – particularly with the range of higher and degree apprenticeships that are now available.”
