Parent/Carer Portal

Monitoring Learner Progress

We are committed to providing a valuable and supportive learning experience for all learners, helping them achieve their career and learning objectives and make a positive contribution to society.

To support this commitment we operate a scheme that allows parents/carers access to their young person’s college reports and attendance records to support them with their journey with us.

Important

Learners will need to send an email to parentportalapp@rnngroup.ac.uk to give their consent for their parent/carer to access the Parent Portal.

Learners control access to this information and can withdraw that access at any time.

More Information about the Parent Portal

All learners at RNN Group have a College record and programme plan which helps them to track their progress through their studies. The College aims to keep parents/carers up to date with their young person’s progress throughout the year.

This Parent Portal allows you to access your young person’s information online, providing your young person has given permission for you to access this.

Through the Portal you can see academic information, attendance and punctuality, targets and reports for each subject.

FAQs

How is college different to school?

It’s inspirational and it’s aspirational. We have a mature learning environment where learners get the skills to be able to succeed in the workplace.

It’s all about learning the skills for employment through work placements, live industry briefs, master classes from industry specialists and trips and visits to focus, inspire and motivate.

Learn in state of the art facilities in a modern environment with friendly, supportive tutors. In return, we have high expectations for attendance and punctuality, and we promote a culture of inclusivity and respect.

Does the College offer a safe and supportive environment?

We take safety seriously. All of our learners, staff and visitors need to wear lanyards so they are identifiable whilst on campus. If your young person needs support, our friendly Student Support Team is available throughout the day and is here to help, whether it’s with for learning, finances, careers or personal issues.

Our trained Safeguarding Team is responsible for keeping our young people safe and looking after their welfare, which includes connecting them with outside services when that’s necessary.

What happens if a young person feels they have enrolled on the wrong course?

We do our best to give each learner all the information they need with an induction programme at the start of the academic year.

If we, or they, realise during the first few weeks that they’re not on the right course for them, our Careers Team will work with them to explore other options. If possible, we’ll transfer them straight onto a more relevant course.

Do you have Careers Advisers?

Starting a new course at college is an exciting time and the beginning of your career journey with us. We have a dedicated Careers Team who are there for when you need to make decisions about your future career plans, exploring your choices and career interests.

We have a team of Careers Advisers who are here to help you plan for your future.

Can you progress on to University after a College course?

You absolutely can. Many of our learners go on to study Higher Education courses, either at the College or at a University.

The University Centre Rotherham, also part of the RNN Group, is where many of our students go on to continue their education.

Our Careers Advisers promote University as an option, they provide one to one support to guide our learners through applying for University and student finance.

What else is on offer beyond studying?

Lots of things are on offer! We’re here to help your young person make new friends, learn new skills and prepare them for their next steps.

This could be taking advantage of work experience placements such as the Turing Scheme, joining the Student Voice, becoming a Student Ambassador, volunteering to support events, raising money for charities or joining one of our many enrichment clubs and activities.
