On this course, we will guide you through exploring the world of creative media and photography and gain knowledge by learning hands-on skills and discovering how to bring your ideas to life!
Whether you’re passionate about capturing the perfect shot, making videos, or becoming a podcast producer, this course gives you the tools to start your creative journey.
- Media & Photography Basics: We will deliver the
essentials of media and photography production. Developing your ability to
plan, shoot, edit, and share your work.
- Creative Techniques & Processes: Discover different
creative processes and techniques used by professionals in photography and
media.
- Working with Technology: Explore cameras, sound
equipment, lighting, editing software, and more. Learn how to use industry
tools to make your work your own.
- Understanding Your Audience: Find out how to create
content that connects with different people and communities, whilst
identifying your target audience.
- Visual & Audio Theories: Understand how visuals and
sounds are used to create meaning and emotion in films, podcasts, and
photographs.
- Interactive Media & Social Platforms: Explore the use
of interactive media, from websites to social media. Create content for the
digital world.
- Research & Inspiration: Investigate artists,
photographers, and media creators to find inspiration and understand the wider
creative world.
- Examples of production:
Media – Music Video, Advertisement, Poster, Magazine covers.
Photography – Studio photography, Traditional processes, Product, portraiture, Nature, Wildlife.
- On this course, you will work within industry-standard facilities, taught by industry professionals who will guide you on your journey to becoming a creative practitioner
- You will have access to our studio spaces, traditional darkroom, editing suites
- You will develop your understanding of Canon and Nikon cameras and the Adobe Creative Suite
- Each year our students have the opportunity to attend residential trips which have included visits to Madrid, London, the Peak District as well as visits to national galleries and photography festivals
- You will develop employability skills and participate in real life lens-based work experience
- Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, ideally including English or maths
- A completed Level 1 qualification in an arts-related subject
- A portfolio of media / photography-based work
