Jody – Media Make-up
Since studying Media Make-up at North Notts College, Jody has worked with some of the biggest names in film and TV. In this case study, we will explore Jody’s journey from her education to her professional career.
When did your passion for Media Make up begin?
“My passion began when I was just a child. At five years old, my Dad introduced me to the making of Michael Jackson’s Thriller on VHS. I was fascinated by the make-up and prosthetic applications. As I got older, my passion for special effects make-up continued. I enrolled in the media make-up course which paved the way for my university studies, leading into my career today.”
Why did you decide to go down this route?
“Early into my school years, I realised that being practical and creative was my chosen form of self-expression. Even if special effects make-up hadn’t become my profession, I would have pursued it as a hobby. Whilst I decided to go down the university route, I recognise that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Some opt for shorter courses and still find success. It’s about finding the path that suits you.”
How has studying Media Make-up at College prepared you for your career?
“My education in media make-up not only equipped me with technical skills but also instilled crucial skills like punctuality, cleanliness, and hygiene. Principals such as these are essential to my career every single day. Cherie, Karen, Jackie, and Carolyn were pivotal figures in my educational journey and helped to teach and guide my path to achieve my goals.”
