Access to Higher Education (HE)

These one-year courses are ideal for building up your confidence, knowledge, and academic skills to prepare you for Higher Education at college or university, even if you left school without a technical qualification or A-Levels.

If you progress to Higher Education after taking out a loan for an Access to HE diploma course, your Advanced Learner Loan balance will be written off on the completion of your HE course.

Higher and Degree Apprenticeships

Higher apprenticeships range from level 4 (Higher Level Certificate) to level 5 (Higher Level Diploma) and are perfect for those who want to gain a qualification recognised by employers across the country. They allow students to develop key skills, knowledge, and understanding in a specific industry while gaining on-the-job experience and earning a wage.

Degree apprenticeships range from level 6 (Bachelors) up to level 7 (Masters) and are aimed at people who want to learn a specific job while earning a full degree. They combine hands-on experience in the workplace with studying, so you can gain the skills you need for your future career. You’ll earn while you learn, and once you finish your course, you’ll be qualified in your chosen field.

Foundation Degree (FdSc)

A Foundation Degree (level 5) is a great way to kickstart your career. These courses are designed for people who want to study at a high level and are looking for a new challenge, but who don’t have the grades or experience to enter degree-level study straight away.

A foundation degree is a level of education below a bachelor’s degree but above an associate’s degree. It requires you to study a specific subject area in more depth than an associate’s degree would.

The course provides you with an opportunity to build up your skills and knowledge in preparation for further study or work-related learning. Upon completion of this course, you can then progress onto study for a Bachelor’s Degree.

Bachelor’s Degree (Honours)

A Bachelor Degree (level 6) could take you to the top of the ladder in many different career paths, including business, education, and healthcare. The skills that you learn in this degree can prepare you for a number of different careers in the future. You will learn how to research information and evaluate it critically, as well as how to communicate ideas clearly and persuasively.

By completing this degree, you will be able to work in a variety of roles within the business world. This degree will allow you to explore a wide range of topics and will give you a solid foundation for further studies. You can then go onto study for a Master’s degree in your chosen subject area.
